The very talented Layon Gray is hosting an event this Friday at a cozy theatre in NoHo. I starred in what is perhaps the darkest coming of age story (of sorts), his Diary of a Catholic School Dropout, last year- my only theatrical performance in Los Angeles - the man is truly quite talented. As a special debut, after our performance one night, he did a one man show, a male version of his play I was in. It was very, VERY dark and interesting to watch him essentially play my role and the roles of all of the others. He took some very singular female experiences and expressed them as his own in a very real way. So real, in fact, he is often asked if he had the experiences that he wrote and performed. He hasn't. And THAT is a Very Good Thing.
Go see the show. It's a fundraiser. Music and drinks and dancing. And a dance off, if I am not mistaken. The best $10 you ever spent. I'm sure.
